About me !!

Hi friends, Thank you for visting my page, I am Mano Priya Vijay, living in Bangalore with my family. My native is Sivakasi famous for crackers and printing press. Let me start with when and how I started cooking.

As far as I know, my cooking started when I was in 8th standard where I used to prepare tea for my appa (dad), note it guys its only occasionally! Appa use to appreciate my tea and will ask amma to prepare tea similar to my preparation. Ha..Ha…Ha.. My mind voice "To make me happy, he provides such a positive feedback” However I use to be very happy and proud.

Later my cooking went to next level when I was doing my 11th standard and it was the time period where my amma went to Chennai for my sister’s delivery. So I got next opportunity to cook for my appa, who was an ulcer patient. Generally my mom used to cook separately for my dad where the preparation is less spicy, less salt and no tangy taste…in simple words we can called it as “Baby weaning food”. I use to call this preparation as “Appa Samayal”. So my first learning was my Appa Samayal.

Then after here and there I used to cook. Hmm I still remember I learnt mutton kola when I was doing my degree. My cooking started full fledgy when I started working in Infosys. No other way I have to cook for myself since I was working in shifts. I used to get cooking instructions from my mom via phone and then I will cook. Whenever I come home (Sivakasi), my mom used to pack homemade masala powder. My roomies used to say, your cooking is good only because of this masala powder. Yes I agree to them, this masala powder which gives phenomenal taste to the dishes.

Usually most of the girls will start cooking only after their marriage, however I am lucky in that way. After my marriage, used to prepare variety of dishes using my magic masala (my mom’s homemade masala powder). My husband used to tell me your cooking, your sisters cooking and your mom’s cooking tastes similar. Ha ha ha that’s because of our magic masala powder. Mom used to prepare masala powder in bulk and we (me and 2 sisters) will happily pack it.

During my first 5 years of marriage I haven’t tried any new recipes other than the routine dishes. Since I was working I won’t find time to try and cook differently. Even on Sundays I used to go to work so most of the time hurry burry cooking only.

Later on 2014, I resigned my job, only then I started to explore myself in cooking. Used to try different recipes and my tester off course my husband have to taste it. He used to give very genuine comments, initially I felt very bad however that molded me very well. Nowadays I am getting very less negative comments from him. Whenever I try any new dishes he gives his full support. He hates Chinese recipes, so whenever I prepare Chinese dishes he will say big No.

This is how my journey of cooking started. Hmm let me tell you how I got an interest to start sharing my cooking recipes. After I resigned my job, sitting idle at home make me frustrated. My friend who is an active techie blogger inspired me to write my own techie blog. Even I had a lab setup, used to post troubleshooting steps, solution for various issues related to windows admin, yup I was a windows administrator.

After some extend I couldn’t post pages, as I resigned my job I couldn’t focus on real-time scenarios which was a big drawback for a Techie Blogger, so I dropped over there.

Then where and when did the idea of sharing recipes came up in my mind?

One day when I was trying new dish Chilli Panner, my sister called me. Actually that was a general talk, then I told about my new try. She asked to shoot out a video and sent it to her if the recipe turns out good. Dish came out very well, so I shared the video with her. There comes the spark, why don’t I share all of my recipes? Had a discussion with my husband, he said ‘Yes’.

There I started sharing my recipes. Posted my first post on June 20, 2016. Then few more post on the same year, then had a long gap of 1 ½ years, yes it was a very long gap for a beautiful reason. I have my little champ on my hands on June 20, 2017. Have you noted the date, its June 20 where I shared my first post. Coincidently the next year same day I have my little champ “Sugrit Ram”, pet name – Jiju.

Actually I haven’t noticed the date of my first post. Later after my delivery and when Jiju turns 10 months old, thought of writing blog again. But still was in oscillation, will I find time to write quality posts? While running through my blog I noticed the date of my first post. On seeing that I am so excited and happy and felt very lucky and took it as a God’s way of indication to carry on my path as a food blogger. This is how I my journey as a food blogger started.

Hmm I know I have bored you by saying very long and lengthy stories. Yes I want to share all these to my readers who must know about me before they try my recipes.

Welcome you again to my page, please have a look at my recipes and try the same. I am open to comments and please mention your comments in comments section of respective posts and mail me your queries via contact me tab. If you like the recipe please do share it with your friends as well.
